FY 22 Street Rehabilitation & Construct

A 2018 assessment of street conditions resulted in a report recommending work programs to rehabilitate and preserve Town streets. Undertaking rehabilitation of many of the deteriorating street segments was however, deemed impractical due the presence of deteriorating utility and stormwater lines beneath them. Therefore, this led to an FY 2020 project that provided for the resurfacing of only those streets in need of repair for which the underlying utilities were in good condition together with other street construction work. Since that time the Town has obtained USDA Rural Development grant funding for rehabilitation of multiple sanitary sewer, water, and stormwater mains. Design of this USDA-funded project has revealed additional streets for which the underlying utilities have been deemed to not require rehabilitation or replacement. As such, this project is to address deteriorated streets that are not to be part of the USDA-funded utilities project. More specifically, the work is anticipated to include rehabilitation of five street segments totaling 2,400+ linear feet through a combination of patching, mill-patching, milling, and the placing of asphalt surface courses. Four street segments totaling 2,320+ LF are also to be reconstructed by cement stabilization of the bases and subsequent placement of asphalt surface courses.
