Important Updates

Staff is currently working through logistics with Waste Industries regarding the company’s taking over trash and recycling collection for the Town of Beaufort. In an effort to ensure the transition goes as smoothly as possible, it has been decided to wait until April before transferring that service completely to Waste Industries. A firm date will be announced in mid-March. In the meantime, Public Works will continue to collect household waste on Mondays, recycling on Tuesdays and yard and bulk items on Wednesdays. Talk Trash” with a representative from Waste Industries will be held 4-6 p.m. Feb. 22, 4-6 p.m. March 8 and 4-6 p.m. March 22 in the Train Depot, 614 Broad St. Citizens are encouraged to come and ask any questions they have about the new trash collection process. Ricks Avenue is closed to through traffic until further notice due to a failed 36" culvert, which has caused a sink hole in the roadway. Crews are currently being scheduled for repairs. Updates will be provided as they become available. Contact Town Hall at 252-728-2141 for more details.

Schedule a Fire & Building Inspection

The Planning & Inspections office will schedule a united inspection for Fire and Building issues. Contact Debbie at 252-728-2142 or d.graham@beaufortnc.org.

Notify Police of Emergency Contact Numbers 

The Beaufort Police Department conducts regular business checks during and after hours to ensure the safety and security of our citizens, business owners and visitors. The Police Department requires emergency contact information to be submitted for all businesses. The form is available here. Contact the Police Department at 252-728-4561.

Establish Water Service

An application for water, sewer and trash services must be submitted to the Utilities Administrative Assistant at Town Hall.  A deposit may be required for service and additional water tap and impact fees may be applicable for new buildings, modifications, and installation of new systems. If your business involves alcoholic beverages, please remember to contact the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement by calling 919-779-0700, visiting www.ncabc.com or emailing contactus@abc.nc.gov.

A state permit must be obtained from the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission.  Before the returning the Local Government Opinion to Town Hall for the Mayor’s signature, the ABC inspection form must be completed and attached to the Local Government Opinion form.
