The 2460 custom-built boat is all-composite, no-wood, no-rot construction by Kencraft Boats in Wilson, NC.
The layout in the boat was customized to fit the needs of the Beaufort Fire Department specifications to offer ideal search and rescue space in the bow as well as ample room to operate the custom-ordered marine Darley Fire Pump.
The boat incorporates an in-floor, 48-gallon custom aluminum fuel tank to service the fire pump.
The 300-gallon-per-minute pump is supplied by an all bronze 3-inch pickup through hull that features a flush port and quarter turn shutoff. Additional 3/8 aluminum coring was added in the floor to support the added weight of the fire pump, the torque on the pedestal, and the legs for the T-top.
The pump features a powered automatic primer, dual water exit ports, 21 horsepower, all bronze and stainless housing, braided stainless inlet hose, custom aluminum gauge cluster bracket, custom aluminum primer bracket, and custom fiberglass removable ported enclosure. The pump exits the side of the enclosure through a hose that leads to the custom aluminum pedestal.
The profile of the boat is highlighted by a T-top that was designed and built in house. It features all 2-inch pipes with a fiberglass hardtop that incorporates a finished underside commonly used for additional electronics. built in the boatbuilder's welding shop.
