09/16/2016: At the Sept. 14 meeting, the consensus was to have staff draft an application for the landowner to be kept on file at Town Hall and set of guidelines for the landowner/renter to follow, all to be presented to the Board of Commissioners during its next meeting, which is Sept. 28.  

09/13/16:  It was decided during the Aug. 25 meeting to have a third meeting to address the next step, which may include creating guidelines at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the Train Depot, 614 Broad St.

08/16/2016: During the June 30 planning working group of the Board of Commissioners the topic of regulating Short-Term Rentals By Owner was first broached. It was decided to put the item on the July 11, 2016, agenda for the full Board to discuss. During that meeting, the conclusion was drawn that an open forum to have public feedback was needed. 

The public forum was held Aug. 11 in the Train Depot. The about 50 in attendance were given the opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions on the short-term rentals in Beaufort. The feedback, available here, was typed up and put on the projector during the meeting. 

At the conclusion of the forum, the citizens gathered decided to have a follow-up meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, in the Train Depot, 614 Broad St., Beaufort.
