The Town of Beaufort recently received a grant from NC Department of Environmental Quality-Division of Water Infrastructure to conduct an Asset Inventory Assessment Project for the Town’s public water system.
The Town’s water system consists four (4) groundwater supply wells; two (2) water treatment plants; two (2) ground storage tanks; two (2) elevated water storage tanks; approximately 47 miles of 2”-10” distribution mains; and an interconnection for emergency purposes with the adjacent North River Water System. The Town is the retail purveyor of water supply to all customers within its corporate boundary. The Town purchases approximately 20,000 gpd of potable water from the North River Water System and directly re-sells it to the Beaufort residents of Eastman Creek Subdivision.
The Town is the retail purveyor of water supply to all potential customers within its corporate boundary, serving approximately 3,400 residential, commercial and industrial users.
The Town is soliciting Statements of Qualification from engineering consultants interested in providing services for the project. The Town intends to select a qualified consultant to provide water system inventory, water system asset assessment and capital improvements plan, and water asset management plan.
