UPDATE 04/04:16: The replacement of existing manual-read water meters with digital-read water meters began the last week of March by Matchpoint, the company performing the installation. 
Installation began in North River Club, Eastman Creek Landing and Front Street Village. 
Starting the first week of April, four Matchpoint representatives will begin replacing the current manual-read meters with digital-read water meters beginning at the western part of Front Street and they will work their way east. 
The company anticipates installing 200 to 300 meters per week, with the majority of installations taking place in April. 
Before your meter is installed, a representative from Matchpoint will attempt to make contact with you at your residence regarding any interruption in service, which is expected to be minimal. 
There is no need to be home during the installation process. 
If you are not home, the installer will leave information for you at your residence about how to properly flush your lines.

UPDATE 12/16/15: At the regular meeting Dec. 14,the Board of Commissioners voted to go with lowest bidder, Matchpoint, for a full replacement. 

UPDATE 12/08/15: The formal bidding process closed Dec. 7, when the sealed bids were opened  at Town Hall, 701 Front St., Beaufort. The Bid Tabulation is available here.

08/11/15: The Town of Beaufort is considering converting to digital water meters.

The Power Point presentation Assistant Manager Lauren Hermley presented to the Board of Commissioners during its regular meeting Aug. 10, 2015, explains the details. 

The Board decided during that meeting to begin the formal bidding process.
