What to do with your yard debris?
Yard Debris (tree limbs, grass clippings, leaves, brush, etc.) is collected in the Town on a weekly basis. Monday’s is collection on the south side of town which is everything from Lennoxville Road and Mulberry Street to the south (towards town hall). Then Tuesday from Lennoxville Road and Mulberry Street to the north which is towards Beaufort Golf Club.
Permitted materials should be placed in acceptable containers or in piles curbside by 7 a.m. the day of collection. Any trash or construction material mixed in with yard debris will result in nothing being collected due to disposal guidelines.
Containers are not required but may be used. Acceptable containers include plastic or metal garbage cans no larger than 35 gallons and weighing no more than 50 pounds when full. Containers must have fitted lids and should be clearly marked “Yard Debris” or “YD” on the outside.
Plastic bags are prohibited.
Any yard debris placed curbside in a plastic bag will not be collected.
Individual limbs and branches must be smaller than 5 feet in length, 8 inches in diameter, and weigh less than 50 pounds. Piles must not exceed a total of 5 cubic yards (i.e. 4 feet high, 4 feet wide and 8 feet long) and will not exceed a total weight of 150 pounds. Yard debris will be collected from a point adjacent to the public streets and should not be placed in the street or curb line gutter.
Placing piles of leaves or debris in the roadway is strictly prohibited.
