NC DOT Documenting Environmental Resources
The North Carolina Department of Transportation will be in the area the next several weeks identifying and documenting environmental resources. Representatives of the Department, as well as the US Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, Regulatory Division may be present on your property if you are in the area of (TIP Project R-3307) US 70 from Radio Island to US 70 North of Beaufort near SR 1429 (Olga Road).
Representatives will be conducting or verifying the limits of waters and wetlands pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. These representatives will be wearing highly reflective safety vests, have picture ID badges and will be hanging various colors of flagging or ribbons, on trees and shrubs to identify the limits of streams and wetlands, if present, on the property. This flagging does not indicate the location of a proposed transportation project, but it is very important in the environmental review process.
Landowners in the project area should have received a letter of notification. Anyone with questions about the project is asked to contact NCDOT Senior Project Manager, Gary Lovering at email@example.com. Please mention project number R-3307 in all correspondence.
